Gallery–Rose Series Boxes

These boxes are shaped by the rose engine device. This process involves guiding the cutting tool holder with a template shaped as a rosette and linking the tool holder to the slow rotation of the workpiece on the spindle. The result is that the workpiece takes on the shape of the rosette used as a guide. This process is used to create flat disk rosettes with the tool cutting from the end of the lathe, seen here and on other pieces on this site, but it can also be used to create the 3-dimensional outer contours of the piece if the tool is advanced from the side of the lathe. The thumbnail index is arranged in succession from right to left, beginning at top right, and the captions are uniquely numbered for each piece.
