Purple Dymondwood "Indian Bamboo" Box

Box of purple dymondwood, a manufactured wood product consisting of birch veneers which are dyed and then fused into a solid material bonded with acrylic resin under heat and pressure. This box was designed to give a sense of the architecture of India. The base is cut with dentil molding above and below the field of pattern which is cut with a !/8" reeding bit into a spiral bamboo pattern. The finial is blackwood with mother-of-pearl inlays.
