After Fabergé --Flowers & Swags Box

[BX08] (Size: 2 3/4"D x 2 3/8"H)
African Blackwood, pink ivory, rhodonite, crysophrase, white quartzite, gold-filled bezels. A tribute to the eclectic work of Fabergé . After seeing an exhibit of Fabergé Easter eggs, gemstones and miniature boxes at the Houston Museum of Natural History, I was inspired to create this piece. The simple lines with strong curves are reminiscent of Victorian design. The 6-petaled flowers with swags remind me of some of Fabergé 's motifs. The pattern consists of white quartzite center, rhodonite petals, and crysophrase swags, all 4-mm cabochons set in gold-filled bezels; a total of 48 stones. The large 35-mm rhodonite cabochon on the dome is surrounded by a "barley-corn" pattern created by the ornamental turning eccentric cutting frame. Inside the domed lid is a flower pattern in a sgrafitto style with pink ivory underlaying the African blackwood. See details-2.
