Meshrebeeyeh Pierced Pagoda Box, No. 7

[BX02] (Size: 2 7/8"D x 4 1/2""H)
Pierced Pagoda Series, No. 7. African Blackwood with mother-of-pearl inlays. A deep 45 degree cut penetrates the sides to create an open grill effect, as in the Arabian lattice windows called "Meshrebeeyeh." 5mm mother-of-pearl inlays in the drum above the roof create a windowed effect. Onion dome fluted finial. An eclectic combination of architectural influences from Japan, Arabia, and Russia. May be used as a pomander for potpourri.
