Reciprocator and Gears

The reciprocator arms were made from 12 mm Baltic Birch plywood with metal fittings. The holes in the top arm are lined with aluminum sleeves and the hub of the lower arm is aluminum. Rotational motion of the lower arm at the hub on the idler shaft is transformed into a cranking motion at its end by its eccentric hub. This cranking motion is transmitted to the upper arm mounted on the spindle in the form of a back and forth rotation through a small angle.
