Wallpaper from Wood Samples
[WP06]Purpleheart(Peltogyne paniculata (spp))
This wood grows in Central America and tropical South America and is also known as amaranth among other names. The heartwood is a deep purple-violet color. Its texture is moderate to fine, though it doesn't exhibit as high polish from the ornamental turning cutter as some other woods available. A very hard, dense, tough wood, it can easily burn with a cut across its end grain. It has an average density of about 56 pounds per cubic foot (900 kilograms per cubic meter). A wood that has some use in ornamental turning due to its density and rich color. It is distinctive in that it holds its rich color without the tendency to fade out over time.
